Hard to find
Only a fraction of stations carry E85, and they hide on back lots and truck stops. Generic gas apps bury the one pump that matters.

The instrument that matters
Race-fuel money buys race fuel. E85 gets you to roughly 100–105 octane for a couple bucks a gallon — if you find the right pump and blend it correctly. E85 App handles both, then shows your true cost per mile so a fill only happens when it actually wins.
Why this is annoying
Flex-fuel pays off only if you can find it, trust the price, and mix it correctly. Most drivers strike out on all three.
Only a fraction of stations carry E85, and they hide on back lots and truck stops. Generic gas apps bury the one pump that matters.
E85 prices swing hard and update slowly everywhere else. A day-old price can turn a "deal" into a loss once you factor in the energy gap.
Pump E85 isn't a fixed 85% — it drifts 51–83% by season. Guess the blend and you miss your octane target or lean out your tune.
What's inside
Every public E85 pump near you, each price stamped with how long ago it was confirmed — pulled from GasBuddy and the national alternative-fuels database, then verified by drivers.
Set the target ethanol % your tune wants; it returns the exact gallons of E85 and premium to add — and the octane you'll land on.
Confirm a price, earn XP, climb the local board. Crowd-verified data keeps every pump honest.
Save every vehicle you drive and instantly check flex-fuel compatibility before you fill — from the MK7 GTI to the work truck.
We factor ethanol's lower energy density into a true per-mile cost, so a "cheap" pump that isn't actually cheaper never fools you again.

From the garage
"Run E30 in my GTI and this nails the blend every fill. The freshness timestamp on prices is the killer feature — no more driving to a stale deal."
"Found three E85 pumps near my route I never knew existed. The per-mile cost view stopped me from filling at a 'cheap' station that wasn't."
The E85 field guide
Straight answers for flex-fuel drivers — no fluff.
E85 is a high-octane flex fuel made mostly of ethanol blended with a small amount of gasoline. Despite the name, the ethanol content isn't a fixed 85% — by law and by season it ranges from 51% to 83%, dipping in winter for easier cold starts. That high ethanol load pushes the octane rating to roughly 100–105, which is why tuners love it for boosted, ethanol-friendly builds. The catch: only flex-fuel vehicles (FFVs) are built to run E85, so always confirm compatibility before you fill — E85 App keeps that check one tap away in your garage.
Per gallon, almost always — E85 commonly runs 15–30% below regular gasoline. But ethanol carries about 27% less energy per gallon, so your MPG drops and the sticker price tells only half the story. The honest way to compare is cost per mile: as a rule of thumb, E85 comes out ahead when it's priced at least 20–25% cheaper than regular. That's exactly the spread E85 App tracks in real time, so you fill up only when the math truly works in your favor.
Blending lets you hit a precise ethanol target — say E30 or E50 — for more octane without committing to a full tank of E85. Because pump E85 varies, the right ratio depends on its actual ethanol content and the premium you're cutting it with. The calculator above (and the in-app mixer) solves it for your exact tank size and target, then estimates the resulting octane. Find a station, set your target, pour the gallons it tells you — done.
Open E85 App and the live map surfaces every public E85 station around you, each price freshness-dated and sourced from GasBuddy plus the national alternative-fuels database, then verified by the driver community. Filter by price, distance, or most-recently-confirmed to land on the cheapest E85 nearby — and confirm flex-fuel compatibility before you fill.
In a flex-fuel vehicle, no — FFVs are engineered with ethanol-compatible fuel lines, seals, and sensors. In a standard (non-flex) car, running E85 can damage components and shouldn't be done. Check your garage in E85 App if you're unsure.
Ethanol holds roughly 27% less energy per gallon than gasoline, so you burn slightly more volume for the same distance. That's why E85 App compares cost per mile, not just price per gallon.
The number is the ethanol percentage of the blend. E30 is 30% ethanol, E50 is 50%. Tuners pick a target for the octane and power they want, then blend E85 with premium to reach it.
E85 is most common and cheapest across the Midwest corn belt, but prices swing locally. The app's live map and price history show where and when to fill near you.
